DANIEL

UDC: Name? Who you are. Background Information?

D: My name is Daniel. I’m from Norfolk, Virginia. Born and raised. I've moved around a lot, different places like California, New York, right here in Dallas, and still moving around and spreading the word.

UDC: Explain what your artist name means to you.

D: Read the story of Daniel. We are all Daniels and we are all in the den. One day when you accept Jesus you’ll get out of the den. You will find true soul purpose. That name goes along way and it is always being watched over by God. Agape is God’s greatest love so what I give to God is my greatest love from my heart, which is music and lyrics. Get it out there because what the world is missing is Jesus.

UDC: Who are your musical influences? Why?

D: Actually one is my mom, she was a songwriter and my father was a promoter. I have to give it up for mom and my uncles. I pretty much came from a family of musicians. As far as mainstream artists, I like Nas and some his messages, and my man Jay-Z. I don’t envy too many people because thats not for me to do. I respect those people.

UDC: Is there a message or theme in your music if so what is it?

D: Definitely, It is one word: Prosperity... I feel, nowadays, that people are begging for ideas. A lot of people get signed whether their hot or not. People are looking for ideas and ideas are getting slim. For the ’05 this is brand new. It’s been around for a while but it’s time man. That’s all I got to say man. So what I’m bringin’ to the table and my comrade Brotha Dez yall check that album the “Soul Winner Click” its gonna be really big so yall stay tuned. It’s a different change of music and we got music for every ethnic background, we got music smashed and crammed into the cd.

UDC: So what is priority number one for you?

D: Priority number one for Daniel right now is to stay focused on my music career and the new upcoming debut album.

UDC: How do you feel the internet has affected your genre of music and the music industry as a whole?

D: I think it affected music industry in a big way because its actually giving back to a lot of indies that are out there. You may sign with somebody, it may sound good you know and they promise you this and that but see you got to become what they want you to be, a character. There gonna make you be somebody you might not want to be. I’m not gonna wear that suit but they say you got to wear the suit. I think the internet has influenced a lot of artists. More indie labels can pump music through there so they can start there own distribution. I think the internet has affected the music 100%

UDC: What types of pressures do you face as a producer/artist in hip-hop music?

D: None.

UDC: Are there any words that you would like to express to your audience?

D: Listen to the album from beginning to end and when the albums done play it again and listen to it from beginning to end. This is what I want you to do. I want you to be rich. I want you to have knowledge even if you dropped out of school and even if you can’t even read. I want you to open the bible up and when I tell you to go to proverbs... do it. I guarantee you will see a change. The album is called “Life After the Den” because I’m giving you my testimony. I’m walking with Christ now so I’m just trying to show you how to do it big in both lifetimes.
