::TEQUILLA::

“TeQuilla” the name says it all. Born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana definitely a Southern Belle, she was raised in a small town on the outskirts of Baton Rouge named Clinton. 

Being the oldest girl in the family with mostly boy cousins its no surprise, she took a liking to  Hip Hop. Hanging with the fellas she began rapping and bee bopping almost better than they could.

In the summer of 1990 her cousin TomCat as they called him taught her how to write. From that point on TeQuilla began writing full songs. When she would see groups of guys at school rapping she would jump in recite one of her verses and they would go crazy.

By this time her older cousins were introducing her to some of the most ear catching music in circulation. So her major influences were 8 Ball & MJG, UGK, Ghetto Boys, Wu Tang, NWA, 2 Live Crew, Salt & Peppa, McLyte and Local New Orleans Rappers.

From this diverse listening she developed a unique style becoming very versatile. She continued to write in hopes one day she would become discovered. 

“TeQuilla” knew nothing could be accomplished in Clinton. So at the age of 18 she moved to Dallas TX in hopes of making some type of step towards her dreams. She began party hopping rapping against male rappers at college parties. From those parties she signed with a local label called A Boot & Tennis Shoe Production, headed by Marcus Tousant, But all fell through when he was arrested and sent to a Federal Penitentiary.

She began recording with groups like the Rat Pack from Florida & Rabi at the Texas Long Horn Ball Room Studio. TeQuilla recorded a second demo and tried to market herself. Her older cousin Mansa Musa had ties to the music industry so he booked her for a showcase in Atlanta opening for an up and coming act PHAJA but noting fell through.

Becoming discouraged but not giving up her cousins Blaine AKA Vaada, and Smurf decided we all need to get together to get things rolling. Smurf bought a beat machine and taught himself to produce tracks. Blaine began writing songs and practicing on his skills. TeQuilla traveled back and forth between Texas and Louisiana to record. 

At that time fellow Native Louisiana artist began to shine, such as Mystikal, Juvenile, Cash money and No Limit records. TeQuilla Decided Louisiana is where she needed to be. July of 2000 she moved home in hopes of jumping on the bandwagon. She began performing at local venues, Club Raggs, Show Time, Club Matrix, and several shows with Mystikal.

Tequilla became pregnant which brought her local fame to a halt. On October 9th 2003 she gave birth to her son Romman Antino Brown Jr. Her child made her want her dream to become a reality even more so.

January 1st 2004 TeQuilla Returned to Dallas to start this process over again, with a new baby and a new attitude towards life. This time determined to make it happen. She began performing at local clubs like Palm Beach but that wasn’t enough. Trying to be discovered she traveled to Charlotte NC for a Music Conference where she learned what it takes to get noticed. 

Upon returning to Dallas she hit the studio working hard to bring forth some of the hottest tracks to be heard from a female. She received a surprising call from Mansa  about performing for the State Farm Bayou Classic in New Orleans Louisiana on Thanksgiving Weekend.  Excited and ready to be heard TeQuilla and Her Cousins performed with well know artist such as Slim Thugg, Gorilla Black, Nivea, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, Franchise boys , Khia , and other local artist.

At this present time TeQuilla is performing at local clubs in Dallas and becoming a hip hop intoxication. She feels she has been patient enough and her recognition is long over due. She is full fledge and ready to take on the industry by storm. TeQuilla is not only her stage name , but her birth name and as she quotes “ Momma Named Me Right”. Unlike the Brand you buy in stores She’s 100 Proof and well preserved.
